is for Argo Argo, Xena's horse (left) is played by four different horses: Aztec is used for rearing up, Honey for kicking and running, and Tilly for riding and standing. Mac is used as a stand-in during rehearsals.  is for Birthplace Xena was born in Amphipolis, an ancient Greek city three miles from the Aegean Sea.  is for Chakram Xena's main weapon is a razor-sharp metal ring called a chakram (right), which she hurls about like a Frisbee, but which returns to her like a boomerang.  is for Douglas Lim Wong He's a real-life martial arts master who taught Lucy Lawless, who plays Xena, how to perform fancy sword tricks.  is for the Eye of Hephaestus Xena helped capture Ares (left), the god of war, and seal him away in a tomb, frozen. The tomb's lock, called the Eye of Hephaestus, can be opened only by throwing Xena's chakram into it.  is for Fake Tan A makeup artist spends five minutes before each scene painting Xena's bronzed skin tone onto the usually pale Lucy Lawless.

is for Gabrielle Gabrielle (right) is Xena's best friend. She is dedicated to helping Xena fight evil. They met when Xena saved Gabrielle's village from being destroyed by the evil warlords.  is for the Horde Xena was once terrified of this tribe of barbaric cannibals, because they wiped out part of her army when she was an evil warlord (see W).  is for "I have many skills." This is Xena's most famous expression.  is for Julius Caesar Julius Caesar and Xena were once in love. Their relationship ended when Caesar betrayed her and tried to have her killed.  is for Kaval A kaval is a Bulgarian skepherd's flute, which can often be heard in the show's background music.  is for Lyla and Lysia Lyla is the bride of a centaur, a creature who is half-man, half-horse. Lysia is a menacing Amazon. Before Xenabecame a series, Lucy Lawless played these roles as well as playing Xena opposite Hercules (right) on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

is for M'Lila M'Lila, Xena's Gaelic-speaking mentor, taught Xena some fight moves, including the Xena Touch (see X). The design on Xena's breastplate is based on M'Lila's breastplate.  is for New Zealand Lucy Lawless is from New Zealand, a country near Australia. Xena is also filmed there.  is for the Opening Words to Xena "In the time of ancient gods, warlords, and kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero. She was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle. The Power. The Passion. The Danger. Her courage will change the worid."  is for Pappas, Melinda In 1940 in the European region of Macedonia, Melinda Pappas (Xena's descendant, left) and Janice Covington (Gabrielle's descendant) found the Xena Scrolls, which tell the story of the Warrior Princess.  is for Queen of the Amazons Gabrielle holds that title. She has had to leave someone else in charge of her people, however, while she helps Xena fight evil.  is for Rizzo This is the character that Lucy Lawless played on Broadway this fall in the musical Grease.  is for Solan Solan is Xena's son, but he doesn't know it. Xena asked the centaurs (see L) to raise him, so he wouid be protected from her enemies.

is for The Tonight Show Lucy Lawless fractured her pelvic bone last year while shooting a comedy skit about Xena for this late-night program. T is also for two months, which is how long it took Lucy to get better.  is for Ulysses Xena once helped this hero, whose ship had been stolen by pirates, to reclaim his kingdom, Ithaca, and his wife, Penelope.  is for Villainess Callisto (above, right) is the show's most popular villainess. When Xena was an evil warlord, she destroyed Callisto's hometown. In revenge, Callisto has sworn to destroy everything the Warrior Princess loves.  is for Warlord A warlord is a military commander who uses force to rule people. Xena was the greatest warlord of her time before she switched from evil to good. Now her mission is to save people from the cruelty of the remaining warlords.  is for the Xena Touch The Xena Touch is a two-fingered neck pinch that can either heal or hurt. When Xena uses it on enemies, they usually choose to cooperate.  is for "Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi!" This is Xena's famous battle cry.  is for Zeus This chief Greek god could become Xena's father-in-law if she and Hercules ever get married-hey, you never know.

Also, there is an article in this magazine with an interview of Joss Whedon, the creative genius behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Among other questions, Joss is asked "how everyone's favorite vampire slayer would measure up to other famous toughies", such as Dracula, Catwoman, Mulder and Scully, and of course, Xena. Here was his reply about Xena: "I love Xena very much, but I'm not going to tell you she could beat up my Buffy. Couldn't happen."
